Attention middle and high school teachers and students in the Borderplex region: Do you have a business idea that solves a problem? New Mexico State University’s Arrowhead Center and El Paso’s STTE Foundation want to hear your solutions!

The 100 Day Challenge will allow competitors to learn how to pitch an idea, create a pitch deck and start building a network of like-minded problem solvers. 

The challenge runs from February 7 to May 22, 2021, and there is no registration fee to join.

There are three stages for the 100 Day Challenge. 

Stage 1 – The first hundred participants who submit their 60-second virtual pitch will receive a $5 gift card.

Teachers who have ten student pitches enter Stage 1 will be entered into a raffle for a $100 stipend. 

Stage 2 – is all about honing the ideas, developing a business plan and a pitch deck. A workshop on how to complete this next stage will be held online on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 9:00 – 10 am MSTRegister here.

Competitors then submit the final pitch deck by Friday, April 16, 2021; the first 100 will receive a $10 gift card.

Stage 3 -Judges will select the top 10 competitors for Stage 3 who will advance to a formal competition in May 2021, competing for cash prizes ranging between $100 to $300, and cool tech, including laptops.

HOW TO JOIN
STAGE 1

For Stage 1, competitors start with an idea that focuses on solving a problem. They then get a parent’s approval to film a 60-second pitch and post on YouTube, submit the link by Wednesday, March 26, 2021.

By joining the 100 Day Challenge you will learn how to pitch an idea, create a pitch deck and start building a network of like-minded problem solvers.

Competition spaces are limited to the first 100 participants and on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Competitors are eligible to win scholarships and tech for prizes. There is no registration fee. This is an individual competition, not teams.

State the problem

What problem is your idea looking to solve?

What is your solution

Captivate the viewer with your idea and why it is important.

Who would buy your idea?

Tell the viewers who are your customers. What are their interests, what do they look like? Where do they buy from?

What makes your idea innovative?

What research have you learned and how is your idea unique.

How much money are you asking for?

How much money do you need to start working on your idea?

Close with a simple slogan and thank you.

Leave the viewer wanting more with a fun, easy to remember slogan and always make sure to thank them for watching. Mention where to get more info.

Stage 2 Submission

AFTER STAGE 1, WE WILL BE ACCEPTING BUSINESS PLANS OR BUSINESS MODEL CANVAS

After students have completed Stage 1, we will be having a workshop to teach youth how to develop a business plan or business model canvas. Once you are ready, please click the submit button to advance.
